March 14th, 2011 - Ten Months Old

How can I have a baby who is TEN months old already?

It actually makes me sad:(  I know some parents love when their kids grow up, but I honestly miss my little bitty baby.  Do I have baby fever already?  No, I couldn't possibly!  I think I just realize that he has been "out" for the same amount of time that he was "in".  He was in my tummy for this long and now he has been out in this big world for TEN WHOLE MONTHS!  Ahhhhhhh!

I have come to terms with the fact that I can't totally protect him from everything and he has to cry sometimes and he is going to do everything on his own time.  But, that doesn't mean I miss my little baby who slept in his swing so peacefully, who loved to be swaddled, who couldn't crawl away from me to get to the dog food!

So, ten months, what do you do with a ten month old baby when you are a stay at home mom and it's too cold to go outside?  Well, here is what our little family did....

3-14: We shopped at Home Depot to make a new "for sale" sign for our yard

3-16: We shopped at Bed Bath & Beyond, came out with nothing, but I've been searching for the "perfect" bedding....someday, it will be mine!

3-16: We ate lunch at Red Robin and gave Dallas static hair from one of their balloons
3-17: Dallas took lots of baths and learned where the water comes from!  (We call it Faucet Falls, thanks to a book Dallas has about taking a bath.)

3-17: Still in the tub...

3-17: ...still in the tub:)

3-22: Dallas had a bottle, or two, or twelve, with crossed ankles, and no shirt (this is the redneck way)

3-22: Dallas shared a teething ring with Daddy

3-23: Daddy put Wasabi under a blanket where he likes to be and Dallas thought it was pretty funny

March 31st, Dallas also got his 3rd tooth, the top left, he loves to grind his teeth and it makes me cringe!!
(I wish I could get the tooth on camera!)

So, that was our month, we hope you had a great month as well!

A few more fun things while he was 9 months old:)

Being nine months is SO much fun, here are a few more ways Dallas spent his time!

March 9th, trying to peek around the camera at mama:)

March 11th, taking the first walk of the year

March 11th, grocery shopping with mama and daddy, he likes the produce

March 11th, still grocery shopping!

March 11th (boy that was a busy day!), admiring the watermelon we bought, he might like watermelon as much as his mom!

That's a fun way to spend the month.

Taking 9 month pictures of Dallas, well, TRYING at least!

So, it didn't go the greatest.  But here are the pictures I got on February 23rd...I didn't want to spend a lot of money going to get professional pictures taken since I knew we would be doing that for his 1 year photos, so I tried to set up a make-shift area to snap some photos of our little man.  He was a little curious, and a lot of a busy body, so I didn't get amazing shots.

Enjoy and go ahead and laugh at my attemps!

Oh what fun it is to be....nine months old already

February 14th, Dallas is 9 months old!  We also had a huge amount of snow which started Sunday and lasted until well into Monday:(  Boo!!  Let's just say we are dreaming of warm weather and it can't come soon enough!!

The day before Dallas turned 9 months I snapped a few pictures of him in a cute Valentine's Day outfit which made for a cute photo shoot along with a couple "$1 spot" Valentine's Day pillows I picked up at Target.  None of them turned out amazing, which wasn't my "subjects" fault, but due to the fact that we need a better camera...someday.  Until then, here are the ones I liked the best.

Since our little monkey had to meet the dermatologist on his 9 month birthday, we decided to treat him with something fun on the 15th, which was go to Wild Air for the first time and he LOVED it!

For those of you who don't know, Wild Air is a large open building filled with those bounce houses.  They have a room designed especially for the little children, so Dallas and Ella basically had the place to themselves.  Ella wasn't too wild (pun intended) about the place, but she did warm up in the end.  Bonus to taking the kids there?  It was FREE!!  Now, that's my idea of a good time!  Plus, it's about 30 seconds from our house, so we didn't even have to travel far.

We had a wonderful time and look forward to going back someday.

Enjoy these pictures from our time at Wild Air!

8 Month Updates

So, now that I got a few craft posts in, I am taking the time to finally write about what Dallas has been busy doing.

Dallas turned eight months old on January 14th.
Not long after that, he started crawling on all fours.  He had been crawling "army style" for a while, but finally on January 18th, he got up on his hands and knees and gave it a go.  He hasn't stopped or slowed down since and he actually has been getting faster and faster when he sees something in his path that he REALLY wants:)  He is truly a little boy, each and every day he keeps us on our toes.  We love it!

This is not the best video we have of his army crawl, but it's still cute:

Same pajamas, different day.  Now he knows how to crawl!:
On January 20th, Dallas realized that he can pull up on things.  I was at my mom's house for a visit and he was playing with a toy in her living room, I walked into the kitchen just a few steps away and when I looked back at him over my shoulder, he was standing there holding onto the couch.  I didn't get a picture of it that day, but here are some other places he likes to pull up and get into trouble:)

January 26th

February 1st

February 3rd

February 6th - Super Bowl Party at our house...GO PACKERS!!!

February 8th - waiting at the doctor for his 9 month checkup.  His stats: weight 20lb 8oz, height 28 inches

Then he must have decided that all this crawling and pulling up was SO tiring that he wanted to sleep through the night...that's right, mama's been getting a full night's sleep since January 22nd and boy does it feel great.  Only 9 months, 8 days, 5 hours, and 3 minutes after his birth, Dallas is sleeping through the night, but who's counting? Sure we have had a few tough nights of him either teething, having a bit of a cold, or myself waking up to make sure he is still breathing in between, but overall he sleeps a straight 11+ hours each night.

I should give him some credit, he has always been a great sleeper, only getting up 2 times a night maximum since he was born!

I may have not taken him this long to figure out how to sleep through the night for a few reasons.
1.  I am a very light sleeper, so each peep I hear I used to get up and go in his room to make sure he was okay.  I'm sure that woke him up.  Now I have two fans and a sound machine going at night to keep me from waking up.
2.  Being a stay-at-home-mom and knowing in the back of my head that I CAN take a nap during the day when Dallas naps makes it a little easier to give in and give him a bottle in the middle of the night or rock him if he does wake up.
3.  Since he has become mobile, I started to cherish those middle of the night meetings we would have and to be honest, I miss them more and more each day.  The only way he likes to cuddle these days is if I have a bottle for him or if he is asleep.  Is it bad that I think about going in there at 11pm just to pick him up and cuddle with him??  No, I haven't actually done it...YET!

January was the first time Dallas sat in snow, ever, in his life, here, in Wisconsin, land of the snow (we are currently getting poured on as I write this..can you tell I'm REALLY excited about that?? Yeah, I sure am...blah.

Watching the cars go by

Kind of happy about the snow idea...

Maybe not so happy anymore...giving the snow the "evil eye"

Going for it

Okay, that's pretty cold!
February 6th was the day Dallas completed his own art/craft project, with some help from mama and dad!
Here is what we did:

And the final drafts are now proudly displayed in his room:

The next big milestone:  Dallas's first tooth!!  That's right, 8.5 months old and our little monkey got his very first tooth, the bottom left one.  This happened the day Michael got home from training in Pennsylvania, February 4th.  Which was followed by tooth number 2 on February 8th.

So, that's what our little monkey was up to!
